The 1970s saw the entrance of new Soviet armor in the shape of the T-72M1, envisaged as a replacement for the T-62 tank. This plastic model assembly kit of the T-72M1 faithfully captures the compact gun and low silhouette, right down to the rough surfaces of the cast metal hull. Modelers can choose to recreate the T-72M1 in Soviet or Middle East spec, and the kit also includes photo-etched parts to recreate netting over the engine grilles, plus vinyl tubing for supplementary fuel tank lines, and even springs – the result is a highly detailed finish. A figure is also provided. Don’t forget that this tank also faced off against opponents such as the U.S. Abrams in the Persian Gulf War, making them perfect diorama-mates.
