The multiple launch rocket system BM-14-16 has developed at the beginning of 50s. The artillery part of the system has formed by 16 launch tubes with 16 turbo-rocket projectiles of M-140 type. MLRS BM-24-12 was the most powerful rocket system in its class in the world during mid-50s-early 70s period. The artillery part of the system has formed by 12 framed-cell launch guides with 12 turbo-rocket projectiles of M-24 type.
