Endemic to Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean, iguanas are a genus of large reptiles thats comprised of multiple species. The green iguana is by far the most common, and has a large range throughout South and Central America.

History:

Did you know that iguanas are actually excellent swimmers? In fact, they spend a large majority of their life in the wild around bodies of water, and often elude would-be predators by swimming away from them. Most iguana species are classified as least concern by the IUCN, although there are some that are currently threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation.
